NEW: PLENTICORE G3: Market launch completed & backup power mode

The delivery of all power classes of the PLENTICORE G3 inverter together with the KOSTAL BackUp Switch for backup power operation has fully begun.

PLENTICORE G3 inverters: All power classes now available

Following the market launch of the largest power class of the KOSTAL PLENTICORE G3 L inverter (15 to 20 kW), KOSTAL is now supplying specialist retailers with the M (8.5 to 12.5 kW) and S (4 to 7 kW) models. This means that the complete series of PLENTICORE inverters with backup power function is now available on the market.

The PLENTICOIN's ability to expand power and optional features such as the integration of DC overvoltage protection or the KOSTAL BackUp Switch for backup power operation make the PLENTICORE G3 a unique inverter.

The KOSTAL inverter meets the zeitgeist of the market: The production capacities of the KOSTAL plant in Hagen are fully utilised to meet the strong demand. Good news: The PLENTICORE plus G2 hybrid inverter can also still be ordered from retailers.

Hans-Bernd Wiesener, Sales Manager for the DACH region for KOSTAL Solar Electric, comments: "The numerous discussions with our customers have shown that the combination of a larger power range, now up to 20 kW, and the great flexibility thanks to the power extension has met with keen interest. We are very pleased about this, because this is exactly why we designed the PLENTICORE the way we did. We wanted to develop an appliance that would make life easier for retailers and installers. Because now they can offer three power ratings per appliance per model series, resulting in lower logistics costs and less storage space with the same range of power classes."

The PLENTICORE G3 also offers other highly sought-after features that can be implemented as an option. These include the BackUp Switch developed by KOSTAL.

Backup power operation with the KOSTAL BackUp Switch

If the power from the public grid fails, the inverter also switches off. In this case, the domestic grid must be disconnected from the public grid. Only then may the PLENTICORE G3 be switched to backup operation. Disconnection is achieved by flipping the manual changeover switch as a cost-effective solution.

Of course, a battery storage system is also required for temporary self-sufficiency. The selection of compatible battery storage systems is large and constantly growing, so there is a suitable model available for every need and requirement. Manufacturers of compatible storage systems currently include VARTA, BYD, LG Energy Solution, Pylontech, Axitec, Dyness and ZYC Energy. An overview with all compatible system can be found here.

KOSTAL BackUp Switch: More security, simple installation

The KOSTAL BackUp Switch enables energy to be supplied from individually selected circuits or the entire house network. This means that every socket, every lighting circuit, but also electric shutters or door drives can be used again.

The KOSTAL BackUp Switch is compatible with all PLENTICORE G3 models and is suitable for all house connections designed for up to 63 amps of current. For greater safety, the BackUp Switch also has an integrated cable break detection for the evaluation signal of the switch position.

Installation is a breeze, as two separate outgoing circuits can be used to divide the existing circuits into those that remain switched off in the event of a power failure and those that continue to be supplied by the inverter. The KOSTAL BackUp Switch only requires eight partition units in the control cabinet, so that the switch can be mounted on a top-hat rail right next to the KOSTAL Energy Meter.

The fact that the PLENTICORE G3 uses the same AC connection cable for mains and backup operation is particularly practical, meaning that only a single AC cable needs to be laid. Existing residual current devices and circuit breakers can continue to be used.
